On 22 November 2018 The Bongi Ngema-Zuma Foundation participated and supported Saphinda Primary School, during their Diabetes Awareness Day
Saphinda Primary School situated outside Durban’s township Umlazi, was the first school that was adopted by the Bongi Ngema-Zuma Foundation in 2011 and continues to support the school with various resources, and as a result, the Soul Buddies team with 60 Learners from the school endeavored to make a difference. The team which is led by 2 educators requested support from the BNZ Foundation with their awareness campaign.
Community members were also in attendance, and thanked the BNZ Foundation for making it possible and convenient for them to screen for these types of disease.
With over 400 people tested for Blood Pressure and Glucose (Diabetes). High risk participants were counseled and referred to the nearest clinic.
As the Foundation we would like to thank the Ethekwini Health Department for providing nurses. With these kind of partnerships the BNZ Foundation is sure to realize its Vision: To see a South Africa where Diabetes ceases to be a killer due to lack of awareness.
