In the coldest morning of Sunday, 24th June 2012 were the  temperature was sitting at -2 degrees. First Lady Madam Bongi Ngema-Zuma under her foundation the BNZ Foundation, joined thousands of Sowetans in a 7km walk around Protea Glen. The sun finally was up and the bodies were warmer when the participants gathered back at Almond Molele Park for some Zumba and Aerobics fun session. The day was filled with fun and health consciousness. In her speech Madam Bongi Ngema-Zuma capitalized on educating citizens about the signs and symptoms of diabetes. MMC for Health & Social Development, City Manager and Ward a Counselor addressed category was a 77 year old blind Women who was held by hand throughout the 7km walk. Mrs Mkhize 84 years old, wheeled herself on  a manual wheelchair and was so excited to finish as she always envied people when watching sports on television. “Finally my dream has come true, thanks to the organisers for bringing this event to Soweto” said Mkhize.  Counselors present and Madam Ngema-Zuma visited five deprived families in the neighborhood and listened to their concerns which are being addressed by the relevant departments.
